The Elements of Life
Everything in the world, including our bodies, is made of different amounts of the 5 Elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Even the untouchable things, like our communication, has the qualities of the elements in it.
Although all elements are needed in different amounts at different times, an excess or lack of a certain element can create an imbalance. Being able to recognise the elements makes it possible for you to adapt more easily to your surroundings and the events that take place in your life, finding balance in each moment.
A yoga class also consists of the elements. In this workshop Suze Retera will show you how to recognise the elements and understand how they work together and affect both your body and your mind. During the asana practice you will have a chance to experience the effect of the different elements in the different parts of the practice and gain an understanding of the intelligence behind sequencing.
Ayurveda is the age old Indian science of health and can be seen as the sister of yoga. They compliment each other and are build on many of the same principles and knowledge. Knowing the basics of Ayurveda, your own constitution type (dosha) and how it relates to your yoga practice, can be of great benefit in finding balance in your daily life. In this class you will learn how to recognise the three Ayurvedic Dosha’s: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and how different yoga asana’s and types of yoga practices influence them. This will give you some practical knowledge that you can easily apply in your yoga practice and daily life.
