History
The name Citrine is derived from the French word citron which means “lemon”. Dating as far back as first century A.D, Citrine was used as an ornamentation for cabochon rings and in intaglio works. The ancient Greeks and Romans favored it mostly for their jewels. Citrine became once again popular in the 17th century due to Queen Victoria fascination with the gem. It started being used by Scottish men as kilt pins, sword and dagger adornment, and shoulder broaches. Since then, the gem only underwent popularity—during the Art Deco period, Citrine was used by Hollywood stars as the center piece in their jewelries.
