Super Blood Wolf Moon in Leo - Change and Opportunity
The Full Moon for January 2019 reaches its peak on the 21st at 6:16 AM. In Native American and early Colonial times, the Full Moon for January was called the Full Wolf Moon. This is because the wolves are much louder and noticeable in January as this is when their breeding season begins. Rather than howling at the moon, the wolves use their howls to establish their territory and breeding grounds. This year we’ll also be treated to a Supermoon and a Total Lunar Eclipse!
Supermoon
A Supermoon occurs when the Moon is both full AND reaches the point in its orbit where it is closest to Earth. A Supermoon is ever-so-slightly larger and brighter than a typical Full Moon, though the difference is negligible when viewed with the naked eye.
Lunar Eclipse
Like a regular full moon only stronger, a lunar eclipse focuses attention on your emotions, intimate relationships, and your home and family. A total lunar eclipse has an even stronger influence on your private life. Sun opposite Moon qualities of emotions and instincts reach their peak at a lunar eclipse. This lets you take an objective and balanced look at your close relationships. Because you will be in touch with your own needs and intentions, you will clearly see any relationship imbalances causing disharmony.
The Lunar Eclipse in January is opposite Mercury and square Uranus. This signals unexpected events and news that are likely to cause some anxiety and uncertainty about the future. So keeping an open mind and staying calm and patient is key to dealing with this unpredictable energy. Otherwise, impulsive reactions, rapid mood swings and miscommunication could cause panic and chaos.
Although the fixed star conjunct the Sun does not moderate this erratic energy, it does offer help by giving confidence and courage. Self-control and patience will counter a tendency to overreact and argue when faced with stressful situations. So take small steps and be adaptable.
The Moon is above the horizon during this eclipse, so with good weather conditions in Amsterdam, the entire eclipse is visible. The duration of the full eclipse is 1 hour, 2 minutes at around 5:43 AM.
Full Moon in Leo
When the full moon is in Leo it is time to find some balance between your personal interest and the sacrifices you make to get in the others focus. You feel safe in moments when you can impress others and get praise and admiration. Yet, when you get into the spotlight, you may find yourself at a loss. Use this full moon’s energy to accept feedback and criticism for improvement.
