Church Service ๑ Heart Sharing Circle
Experience the art of sharing and listening in the sacred space of “The Church of the Heart”.
What is a Sharing Circle?
A sharing circle is an ancient, natural, and ritualistic form of communication. In this sacred space, we take time to identify how we are feeling, to practice being with what there is, and share whatever arises with open honesty, without fear of judgment or consequences. In the circle we also practice the art of listening, compassionate listening, without interrupting, reacting, judging, or criticizing as tempting as it might be.
A sharing circle is profoundly powerful, transformative, and inspiring in its simplicity: we share from the heart and listen from the heart. I will hold space and safeguard some guidelines to guarantee a safe and contained environment:
- We all agree on confidentiality: what is shared in the circle, remains in the circle
- The sharing is voluntary; is it your time, you use it as you please.
- Each session has 3 moments: Opening embodied meditation, Sharing, and Closing integration meditation.
- We use a “talking stick”: who has the stick talks, the rest listen; depending on the numbers of participants we might use a time stop to guarantee each participant personal space for sharing.
- We do not react to each other; both sharing and listening can be intense experiences where we have the opportunity to practice observing, non-reactivity, maintain an open heart, stay with what arises in the moment. We respect each other autonomy and honor our ability to transform in our own way and time.
