Full Moon in Libra - Pride & Drama
The Full Moon for April 2019 reaches its peak on the 19th at 1:12 PM in Amsterdam.
In ancient times, people across Europe and Native Americans used the Moon to track the seasons. In the lunar calendar, names were often given to each month’s Moon. April’s full Moon is called the Full Pink Moon, heralding the appearance of the “moss pink,” or wild ground phlox, one of the early spring flowers. Other names include the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.
This year, April’s full Moon is also connected to Easter. It’s what’s known as the Paschal Full Moon, the full Moon that determines Easter’s date.
Full Moon
A full moon occurs when the Sun is opposite the Moon. This highlights opposing forces or polarities in your life such as your work versus home, or what you need versus what you want. Inner tension and external pressures can lead to personal conflict and crises that drain your energy. Your home, family and intimate relationships comes into sharper focus following a full moon.
The lunar qualities of emotions and instincts reach their peak at a full moon. Use your increased emotional strength and intuition to overcome any relationship challenges. Subconscious awareness allows for an impartial and balanced look at your personal relationships. You will clearly see any relationship dynamics or negative feelings causing disharmony.
Full Moon in Libra
On April 19, 2019, we have the second Libra Full Moon of the year. The first Libra Full Moon was back in March, and opened a portal of possibilities and change. This portal has been guiding us to get back to our center and to find our state of zero, and now, on this second Libra Full Moon in April, this portal of energy is coming to a close.
Since March 20, this portal of energy has been lifting and shifting us in different ways. It has been guiding us to find balance in our lives and to think about ways to elevate and lift ourselves higher.
This portal of energy has been directing us to make some changes so we can feel more aligned and more at one with ourselves. It has been guiding us to merge with the flow and rhythm of the Universe so we can unlock the field of possibilities that rest within.
Now that the portal is coming to a close, we have to turn to the relationships in our lives and figure out what we need to let go of and what needs to shift.
While the first Libra Full Moon was about finding balance within, this second Libra Full Moon is about finding balance with others and with our relationships.
Libra opposite Uranus
The upcoming Libra Full Moon catalyzes unpredictable Uranus. The Full Moon is also at the critical 29°, a “last gasp” energy that brings about changes or endings of old ways of being, especially involving relationships.
As the second Libra Full Moon in a row, this authentic “blue moon” brings our attention once more to whatever winds of change began stirring at the March 20 Equinox/Full Moon at zero Libra. And with Uranus around we feel a need for change, excitement or freedom that might make us feel restless and impulsive.
Sun conjunct Uranus brings excitement, unexpected change and freedom. You should feel a strong urge to break free from routine, doing something totally different from your normal activities. But with Moon opposite Uranus, unexpected changes and upsetting disruptions could bring restlessness and nervous tension.
Flexible and open-mindedness will increase the likelihood of more pleasant surprises and thrilling experiences. But if this impulsive energy affects your ego, you could take unnecessary risks or rebel against authority. Aggressive reaction and conflict may follow.
Asteroid Hybris
The April 2019 full moon also highlights relationship imbalances involving emotional support and love. Asteroid Hybris conjunct the full moon calls for compassion and humility to replace overconfidence and arrogance.
Asteroid Hybris at 28°47′ Libra is conjunct the full moon. Asteroid 430 Hybris is named after the Greek goddess Hubris, representing extreme or foolish pride, dangerous over confidence and arrogance. It usually brings about the downfall, or nemesis, of the perpetrator of hubris.
In ancient Greek, hubris referred to actions that shamed and humiliated the victim for the pleasure or gratification of the abuser.
Today, hubris denotes overconfident pride and arrogance associated with a lack of humility and sometimes ignorance. Hubris is often followed by suffering or punishment (nemesis in Greek mythology).
Work With Gratitude
While tensions may be high around this Full Moon, we still have to keep ourselves in balance and remember that a little kindness can go a long way.
We deserve to surround ourselves with people who love us and want to see us lifted higher. While this Full Moon will shine a light on the relationships that need an upgrade or need to be let go of, we can also use it as a reminder to let those we love know how much they mean to us.
Use this Libra Full Moon energy as a reminder to pay gratitude for your loved ones, and to thank the more challenging relationships in your life too, for they have also shaped who you have become.
The future is bright, and this Full Moon will be helping us to cut the cords, clear the way, and surround ourselves with those who lift us higher.
