๐ณ๐ณ SAVE OUR TREES - A MUSICAL PROTEST ๐ณ๐ณ
Did you know that our trees in Amsterdam's city center and canals are on the UNESCO World Heritage List? The municipal of Amsterdam is now planning to cut thousands of trees in the city center. We will do everything in our power to stop their plans and create awareness around the importance of our trees! For this musical protest, we have bundled forces with artist and musician Bert Barten from Talking Trees. He will give voice to the trees with his audio experience and unique sound journey. He will let audiences connect with nature through music. Showing the importance of trees in our city. The result is an interactive audiovisual performance.
๐ณ๐ณ LETTING TREES SING - ABOUT TALKING TREES ๐ณ๐ณ
Bert Barten has four tree sensors which are connected to a series of analogue synthesizers. The sensors provide information about the sap flow speed, foto synthesis, volatile organic compounds, and moisture. This information determines the pitch and timbre of the synthesizer sounds and also their spatial positioning. The sound subsequently controls a couple of graphic image generators that are projected on big video screens. The digital data of a tree which were collected during one year have been compressed in time and translated into musical values. https://talkingtrees.com/

Our goal is to create awareness for The Green Manifest in support of a greener city & the running tree petition to save the trees they want to cut for the renewal of 200KM of Amsterdam qual wall. There is a cheaper solution available that can save trees, yet the municipal rather cuts them all. It is estimated that 15.000-20.000 will be lost.
