The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit language. ‘Ayur’, originally ‘ayuh’, means life and ‘veda’ is the wisdom or insightful knowledge. Ayurveda can thus be translated as ‘the knowledge or science of life’.
Ayurveda offers knowledge to increase awareness of your individual mind-body constitution and the factors that may cause imbalance and shows you ways to create balance by regulating the systems of the body through diet, lifestyle, herbs, yoga, and meditation.
What is Ayurveda?
It is based on the five element theory and in particular the wisdom of how to live according to your unique and individual constitution. The practice of Ayurveda is designed to promote human happiness, health, and creative growth.
During our monthly special classes, we will be looking at the changes in the season and how you can integrate this into your Asana practice. This class will be partly theory and partly asana (yoga) practice.

By taking your dominant dosha(s), Ayurveda offers insights into which foods, herbs, and lifestyle activities will enhance the quality of your life, and which ones won’t. It offers a body of wisdom designed to help you stay vibrant and healthy while realizing your full human potential.
